SME Bank earns global recognition: included in CNBC’s World’s Top Fintech Companies Ranking

SME Bank, a Lithuanian-capital digital bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has joined the ranks of the 500 strongest global fintech players – alongside industry leaders such as Revolut, N26, Qonto, and Allica Bank. US business news titan CNBC, together with Germany-founded Statista – one of the world’s largest and most influential data analytics platforms – has named SME Bank in its prestigious “World’s Top Fintech Companies 2026” list in the Neobanking category.

The ranking evaluates 500 top-rated fintech companies worldwide across various sectors, including payments, neobanking, alternative financing, and others. The top fintech list was compiled through a comprehensive study of several thousand companies using an evaluation model based on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as qualitative innovation, revenue growth, loan and deposit portfolios, client base, employee headcount, and more.

“This recognition confirms what we see in our results every day – SME Bank is one of the fastest-growing neobanks in Europe, and now the global market sees it too. This is an incredible achievement by our entire team: from those who laid the bank’s foundations to the talents who joined recently and immediately became the engine of this growth. In March, we were recognized as one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies in the ‘FT 1000’ ranking, and today we stand alongside the strongest global leaders in digital banking. For us, this recognition is not the finish line, but strong proof that our chosen strategy is working. We are just getting started,” says Audrius Milukas, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of SME Bank.

According to Milukas, standing out as a European SME-focused neobank on this list is a great honor for SME Bank. It proves that digital banking and working capital financing solutions developed in the bank are highly competitive and valued on a global scale.

The bank’s rapid growth and international recognition are backed by strong financial results: driven by expanding lending volumes, SME Bank’s assets tripled last year to reach €455 million, while interest income grew by 35% in 2025 to €14.6 million. The loan portfolio nearly doubled over the year to €148 million (up from €83 million at the end of 2024), while total deposits grew more than 2.5 times to reach €428 million (compared to €170 million in 2024). This international success has been driven by active operations not only in Lithuania, but also across the Baltic region, Finland, and the Netherlands.
