SME Bank awarded “Baltic FinTech Growth Story of the Year” at 2026 Baltic Fintech Days

SME Bank has been named the winner in the “FinTech Growth Story of the Year” category at the Baltic Fintech Days Awards in Riga. The award, nominated by ROCKIT and Nordic Fintech Magazine, recognizes SME Bank’s rapid expansion in Lithuania and other European countries, as well as its commitment to fostering digital banking for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Since its inception, SME Bank has focused on a primary goal: providing SMEs with faster and more intuitive financial tools. This award marks a significant breakthrough in the bank’s journey – from a market newcomer to a regional leader on a European scale.

“This recognition is not only an achievement for our team but also a win for the thousands of SMEs driving the Baltic economy forward,” says Vaidotas Cucėnas, Chief Operating Officer at SME Bank. “We started with a simple goal – to make banking more innovative and, at the same time, more human. Our growth recognition confirms that our mission-driven approach is exactly what the market was missing.”

This recognition reflects SME Bank’s impressive growth trajectory in recent years. In 2025, the bank’s loan portfolio nearly doubled, reaching EUR 148 million, compared to EUR 83 million in 2024. Customer deposits increased more than 2.5 times – from EUR 170 million in 2024 to EUR 428 million at the end of 2025. The bank’s share capital was doubled to EUR 7 million, while total equity more than doubled, growing from EUR 10.1 million to EUR 20.9 million. Since the start of its operations, the bank has attracted more than 2,500 clients.

As the Baltic FinTech ecosystem continues to mature, SME Bank remains faithful to its goal – to strengthen the ambitions of its clients and partners and ensure that business owners can spend less time on banking and more time on growth.
