SME Bank and Saulės Grąža launch an end-to-end energy independence solution for businesses

The renewable energy sector in Lithuania is undergoing a quantum leap. While a few years ago it was sufficient for commercial enterprises to simply install a rooftop solar power plant, today’s power market dynamics and grid capacity constraints demand smarter solutions. In response to these market realities, digital business bank SME Bank and Saulės Grąža, one of the country’s largest green energy companies, are deepening their strategic partnership to introduce a unique market model: a comprehensive, end-to-end energy independence package.

From now on, enterprises seeking to optimize their energy costs will have access to a fully integrated solution: ranging from professional energy audits, the installation of solar PV systems and advanced energy storage systems (BESS), to flexible and rapid project financing.

From technology to financing – without intermediaries

Traditionally, businesses looking to invest in sustainable energy faced a bureaucratic triangle, having to negotiate separately with contractors, designers, and traditional commercial banks – a highly time-consuming process.

“Our goal is to eliminate any operational headaches for businesses. By combining Saulės Grąža’s engineering expertise with our digital banking flexibility, we have created a seamless, end-to-end service. Businesses no longer need to fragment their focus searching for capital and technical solutions separately; they receive everything in one place – from the initial concept to an operational hybrid system, complete with pre-arranged financing,” says Marius Bačianskas, Head of Lending at SME Bank.

In cooperation with the European Investment Fund (EIF) under the InvestEU programme, SME Bank offers exclusive terms for green projects: financing tenors of up to 10 years, covering up to 80% of the total project value, often without stringent real estate collateral requirements.

Energy storage: the new benchmark for corporate efficiency

Today, the cornerstone of the energy market is no longer just power generation, but also smart consumption and load management. This is precisely why advanced energy storage systems are integrated into this joint partner package.

“The market has matured significantly. While grid constraints used to be a challenge, today energy storage systems have turned those challenges into a competitive advantage. Companies can now manage their electricity flows more efficiently, actively mitigate energy costs, optimize consumption based on spot market prices (Power Exchange), and ensure business continuity during grid outages. For businesses, this is no longer just an optional add-on, but a strategic energy independence solution,” explains Saulius Barauskas, CEO of Saulės Grąža.

Saulės Grąža offers commercial clients an all-inclusive energy solutions portfolio: designing and deploying solar PV power plants and energy storage systems, developing utility-scale solar parks, executing EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) works, providing operations and maintenance (O&M) services, and conducting cybersecurity audits. Over its 14 years of operation, the company has successfully delivered projects with a combined capacity exceeding 200 MW. This accumulated expertise positions the company as one of the strongest technological partners for corporate energy transition in Lithuania.

The green financing window remains open

SME Bank has earmarked millions in concessional financing for sustainability and climate change mitigation projects. The successful deployment of previous credit lines in Saulės Grąža’s projects has demonstrated that such capital allocation translates directly into real, sustainable capacity for thousands of consumers.

This partnership sends a clear signal to Lithuanian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): sustainable energy is no longer a luxury or a future roadmap item. It is a present-day tool for operational cost management, and with this unified alliance of trusted partners, the transition is faster and more streamlined than ever before.
